Carpentry Carpentry I Credits:  2     Prerequisites:  Good Math Skills Site:  DCCTC Students are prepared to obtain their national credential from the National Center for Construction Education Research (NCCER) in the area of carpentry/residential carpentry.  Skills to be taught and mastered during the first semester are experienced residential framing; to include floor systems, walls, ceilings and roofs.  Additionally, they will learn and apply blueprint-reading skills and a strong emphasis on safety.  Credits earned at DCCTC are transferable to a local technical college and applied to the requirements for an Associate Degree in Construction Management or a certificate program in carpentry.   Carpentry II Credits:  2     Prerequisites:  Carpentry I Site:  DCCTC Students are prepared to obtain the final skills training to obtain their full credentials from NCCER.  Skills that will be taught are:  roof applications, interior and exterior finishing, stairs, concrete forms and finishing and the skills for reading blueprints.  Upon completion of this part of the curriculum, students can receive up to 17 credit hours towards their Associate Degree at a local technical college.  This program is “inspiring tomorrow’s skilled craftsmen’s to obtain their national certification Today!   Instructor Reese Cumbee - Building Construction I and II Dorchester County Career and Technology Center Preparing Tomorrow’s Workforce Today
