Cosmetology Cosmetology I Credits:  4     Prerequisite: None  Site:  DCCTC/Fort Dorchester Cosmetology I is designed to teach students the basics of how to care for, cut, style and chemically change hair.  Students will learn the basic skin care (esthetics), including application of makeup, nail artistry (manicure & pedicure) and clinical work on mannequins.  Three hundred contact hours (“hands on” experience) with clients are required.  Students are required to purchase a cosmetology kit for each year of the program. Cosmetology II Credits:  4     Prerequisites: Cosmetology I Site:  DCCTC/Fort Dorchester  Students will learn advanced techniques and be provided intensive “hands on” experiences mannequins and clients.  Utilizing the modern technology of the T214 skin care system, skills in esthetics will be mastered.  Combining both practice and theory for a total of one thousand hours, students will be eligible to take the written and practical exam at the conclusion of their two year program that will enable them to become a nationally certified-licensed cosmetologist be the State Board of Cosmetology-Licensure Board.  Additionally, local salon owners will conduct informative sessions and “hands on” training for students who desire to advance to salon level employment.  Limited space available.     Instructors Melissa Brown - Cosmetology I and II Vivian Hall - Cosmetology I and II Pauline Mixon - Cosmetology I and II   Dorchester County Career and Technology Center Preparing Tomorrow’s Workforce Today
