Electricity Electricity I Credits:  2     Prerequisite:  None  Site:  DCCTC Electricity I students will learn introductory electrical skills for residential buildings in accordance with current national electrical codes.  Instruction will address equipment and wiring systems used in lighting & power in residential buildings.  Additional skills to be learned and mastered through technical and “hands on” experiences are:  residential electrical layout; assemble, install, maintain and test electrical fixtures.   Students will have the opportunity to become a Registered Youth Apprentice and may obtain summer employments with an electrical contractor between their junior and senior year.   Electricity II Credits:  2     Prerequisite:  Electricity I  Site:  DCCTC Second year students will apply theory and will be provided “hands on” experiences learning to bend and in stall conduit, learning the operation of single and polypase motors, alternating current, conductor installation, circuit breaker & fuses, understanding motor control circuit wiring while introducing basics to programmable logic controllers.  Students will also learn the techniques of installing and maintaining electrical equipment.  Upon successful completion, students may be employed in the residential, commercial or industrial sector.  Completers will receive credit towards an Associate degree at an area technical college.    Dorchester County Career and Technology Center Preparing Tomorrow’s Workforce Today
