GED/Vocational Training Program
The GED/Vocational Training Program is a unique program designed to provide
Dorchester County Residents, age 17 years and older who lack a high school credential,
with a unique opportunity to:
•
Upgrade academics skills & prepare for the official GED
•
Complete vocational training courses, earning a vocational certificate upon
mastery of required competencies.
•
Upgrade work-related skills & earn a Career Readiness Certificate (Work Keys)
upon demonstration of skill requirements at each level:
** Students MUST attend full day classes and must also provide their own
transportation. Participants are required to meet a basic skill reading and math level prior
to being accepted into this program.
Pre-Employment Skills Training Program
This program offers a comprehensive Pre - Employment Skills Certification program. The program provides a variety of opportunities for
participants to explore all options available for success in the real world. Through the use of a variety of instructional approaches, this
program gives participants necessary classroom skill training and access to hands-on activities to establish a strong foundation for their future
success in securing employment in today’s competitive job market. Participants receive a minimum of 15 hours of basic computer literacy
instruction, including the completion of a job resume. They are also introduced to state and nationally recognized foundational skills
assessments in the areas of Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information as established by the WorkKeys Skills
Assessments. This system connects work skills, training, and testing for both employers and job seekers and provides an employability skills
credential to future South Carolina workers. Successful course completers will receive an Employability Skills Certificate and WorkKeys
Career Readiness Certificate (for those meeting WorkKeys skill requirements) at the appropriate level (bronze, silver, gold or platinum) to add
to his/her job portfolio.
