Health Science Health Science I Credits:  2     Prerequisites:  None Site:  DCCTC/Fort Dorchester Students gain entry-level knowledge and skills to enter the health care field. Content includes anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, health systems, health science career research, health & wellness, legal & ethical practices protective measures for workers and patients, legal and ethical guidelines, medical communication skills, nutrition, growth and development and medical math.  To be eligible to enroll in Health Science II, students must satisfactorily pass all modules in Health Science I.  Health Science II Credits:  2     Prerequisites:  Health Science I, Transportation & Immunization Site:  DCCTC/Fort Dorchester Second year health science students will select and focus on an area of study and gain intensive “hands on” field experience.  Advanced technical skills, health informatics, nursing, nursing home field experience and opportunities to join the students health association (HOSA) will be available.  Technical skills mastered will afford students various pathways ( i.e. CNA, Veterinary technology, dental assistant, patient data collection, etc.)  in the health field at the technical college. Upon successful completion, students will be certified in Cardio Pulmonary Recitation (CPR).  Competitive events to showcase student skills learned will also be available.    Dorchester County Career and Technology Center Preparing Tomorrow’s Workforce Today
