Masonry Masonry I Credits:  2     Prerequisites:  None Site:  DCCTC Students will learn to use tools and equipment safely and efficiently in the masonry field.  Instruction in the history of brick laying, and masonry technology.  Under the direction of a skilled mason, students will learn to construct walls, partitions and other structures from brick, block and other related materials using a “hands on” approach.  They will be able to follow specific directions, make accurate calculations, judge straight lines and space proportions.  Upon successful completion, students may enroll in Masonry II.  Masonry II Credits:  2     Prerequisites:  Masonry I Site:  DCCTC Advanced masonry skills and techniques will be mastered.  A variety of “live” special projects off campus utilizing a high degree of expertise will be completed.  Students read blueprints, lay brick, stone, structural tile, marble fireplaces and build residential and commercial buildings according to federal and state codes.  Masonry certificates can be earned upon successful completion.  Jobs in the masonry field include bricklayer, block mason, cement finisher, tile setters, stonemason, marble setter, brick chimney builder and firebrick and tile mason.      Instructor Jens Finck - Masonry I and II   Dorchester County Career and Technology Center Preparing Tomorrow’s Workforce Today
